What should be confirmed before recovered money is paid out

The signed engagement terms should explain where recovered money is paid, which deductions may apply, and what written accounting the claimant receives.
Editorial desk

The payment route for a successful recovery is not something a general article can define for every case. Before SBGOK begins recovery work, the signed engagement terms should identify who may receive recovered funds, how the claimant is notified, and how payment is remitted.

Those terms should also state any contingency percentage, what counts as a recovery for that calculation, and how pre-disclosed external court, expert or independent-counsel costs are handled. No deduction should be presented as automatic unless it is covered by the applicable written terms.

When money is paid out, the claimant should receive a written accounting showing the gross amount recovered, each agreed deduction and the net balance. The general framework appears in the Terms & Conditions and fee information; the signed case-specific terms control the actual arrangement.

Why this matters

A claimant should be able to reconcile the gross recovery, agreed deductions and net payment against the signed engagement terms.
